Remote Learning to Support NC Educators

The Friday Institute is partnering with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction to provide professional learning opportunities for educators to support their implementation of remote learning during the COVID-19 crisis.

T.O.Y Time

T.O.Y Time is a grassroots initiative that was developed by Mariah Morris and the 2019 & 2020 Burroughs Wellcome Teacher of the Year cohorts in response to the COVID-19 school closures.

2020 North Carolina Virtual Science Festival

Even though the 2020 North Carolina Science Festival public in-person events are cancelled, we still want to evoke the spirit of our mission – to provide the opportunity to celebrate science in fun and welcoming settings.

COVID-19 Resources & Policy Considerations

The Hunt Institute has put together state-specific resources, as well as policy considerations to inform the conversation of how we can learn from this moment in our nation’s history, and bring about positive change in America’s education system.

Remote Learning Resources

Includes instructional resources, leadership resources, online pedagogy, learning management systems, parent resources, and more for digital teaching and learning.

Virtual Visits

While the Zoo is closed, we have lots of animal stories, animal and nature education presentations and fun activities so you can stay connected.

Assistance & Resources

In no other time has our Home been asked to do more. From transforming into a home office, to a school classroom, to a quarantine facility, to a full-time restaurant, our Homes have taken on the jobs that we used to do past our front door.

SEL Tactics for Remote Learning

Tens of millions of students are dealing with massive upheaval to their educations and daily lives with their schools shuttered indefinitely to thwart the spread of the coronavirus.
